The last #defn i heard was about making #clojure more accessible to newcomers and also get away from this no culture.

I really liked Eric Normands idea about trying to get new #clojurists into the community to embrace the discoveries they make and what they write as code and show them the ways they could have done it in a nicer or cleaner way.

I guess we should first of all try to tell new people what a great job they did in coping with all the new stuff they have to learn cause just look around how many new paradigms new people have to learn and also the tooling around. Yeah #calva is great but try to show a new guy how to use the repl properly and stuff like that. Its a lot.

So what i wanted to say is i would love to also see what eric proposed like a guide for new people coming from other languages to show them how they can tackle certain problems in the clojure world. Something like that awesome guide on design patterns for clojure but maybe in a diffrent fassion. Cause you know people are diffrent but i guess that would give the clojure community another cool boost.

@monkey1 yeah, I found out about #guile and got curios about #scheme when I researched #guix .
I appreciate #clojure more after the small amount of time I spent on scheme. Especially tooling. #Calva is awesome for Clojure! So far I failed to replicate even a small part with #Emacs (which I am also learning as I go)

Doing #AdventOfCode2023 in scheme and learning as I go. Did not reach continuations yet. Heard a lot about them.

Moving slower through #AdventOfCode Learning some basic structured editing with #Calva (a bit forced to learn by editor rules :) Just the different experience from the whole my programming way #Clojure https://github.com/aptakhin/adventofcode-2024/blob/main/src/day4/two.clj

Dear #emacs users, how can I have a multi-select menu like this one ? I would like to have better #UX in emacs, similar to what #calva provides in #vscode .

To me, multi-select in minibuffer seems like a must-have. I wonder why it's not there (OOTB) after 40 years of emacs. Am I missing something?

UPDATE 2: emacs transient pkg
UPDATE: (completing-read-multiple "Select: " '("item1" "item2" "item3"))

Use Up/DOWN to navigate, TAB to select, and comma (,) to select new.

The following loads a file whenever #Babashka is loaded, I've put it in my .envrc #Direnv

That lets me run the #Calva repl without modifying any #VSCode gubbins

export BABASHKA_PRELOADS='(load-file "init.clj")'

“Error building classpath. Don't know how to create ISeq from: clojure.lang.Symbol” without any context where it occurred.

When trying to start a nrepl process in VSCode. Well. I guess it's emacs or vim. #clojure #calva

This appears to be a bug in #vscode #calva tooling for #clojure. I isolated it to this:

(repeat 29 "a") ;; fine
(repeat 30 "a") ;; throws "No matching clause: user" when sending top-form to repl.

Still working on exact reproduction steps. Works fine in a plain #babashka repl.
