It's clear that Arbor is not betraying its familiar foundations with its raw, Norwegian inspired black metal, driven by repetitive riffs and an uncompromising, almost ascetic approach. Yet this time, a distinctly archaic atmosphere hangs over the whole, as if the music was unearthed from a frozen past. Here greater focus on atmosphere and experience over direct impact. Arbor’s earliest work focused more on tangible riffs and dynamics.
