Out Now: Where We Stand, Where We Fall — The Politics of Doctor Who
Radio Free Skaro #1074 – The Happy Days-verse
http://traffic.libsyn.com/freyburg/rfs1074.mp3It’s a bumper crop of news this week despite a complete lack of Doctor Who…except for Circuit Breaker, which begins by way of an online game where you join UNIT! Plus a fine interview with Steven Moffat on the Whoniverse Show, some fine Big Finish Zaprudering, and some truly insane talk about both a possible (but thankfully never followed up on) Doctor Who-Star Trek crossover and a deep investigation into the Happy Days animated universe! Don a leather jacket and say “Wonzie” with us!

On top of that, Nyssa and Dr Who here sound like they’re, well, years older than they were on TV, in terms of how they talk and behave, I mean, like they’re scientists who’ve been working together for twenty years, not really like the young professor/favourite student dynamic they have at the point this is supposed to be set.
#15: “The Mutant Phase.”
Too gun on the frock/gun scale, too serious — it’s not a category of Doctor Who I care for on TV and doing it for an audience of self-serious nerds in the year 2000 is not an improvement.
#14: "The Holy Terror."
Wonderful satire on tradition that gloriously balances the scales between biting comedy and genuine human tragedy. Abolish tradition, all hail the big talking bird.
Reveals at the end threaten to let it down a little, but don't.
Got like a 3 hour flight tomorrow. Downloading Jago & Litefoot #BigFinish episodes.
