Mama duck and baby ducklings feeding in the mist. Just a quick one today as I’m out and about
#Bedale station on the #Wensleydale Line, 19 Apr 1961. It closed to passengers in 1954.
In the 1920s, passenger traffic declined on the line because bus services developed without regulation, e.g. in 1925 United Automobile Services ran busses between Darlington and Bedale. Making the journey by train would required a change at Northallerton. Passenger bookings fell on the line (Ainderby-Hawes) from 143684 to 35055 between 1922 and 1934.
