Текст в ленте: Много лет индустрия информационной безопасности старается улучшить стандарты шифрования в сети двумя способами: массовое распространение HTTPS как общего стандарта шифрования для всех сайтов — даже для тех, которым защита формально не требуется. Очень много времени было потрачено на то, чтобы убедить пользователей в важности тотального шифрования абсолютно всех коммуникаций; сокращение сроков выдачи сертификатов SSL/TLS, чтобы стимулировать пользователей внедрять автоматические процедуры/скрипты для автопродления сертификатов, чтобы исключить «человеческий фактор» и забывчивость сисадминов, которые забывают менять сертификаты. Но иногда этого недостаточно. К сожалению, автоматические скрипты продления сертификатов тоже могут выйти из строя.

I'm not a #bazel user, but my own project is used by their rules_oci builder. Essentially they took a bunch of existing community projects and wrapped them with some scripting. Except those projects aren't designed to build OCI images, it's more of a hack. So I've got hope that rules_img will gain traction since they used OCI libraries to make their own builder commands.

Selon un billet de blog de Lorin Hochstein (Incidents), un certificat SSL expiré a touché les domaines de distribution de Bazel chez Google, provoquant des échecs de build pour les utilisateurs. • Impact principal: des erreurs côté clients Bazel lors de l’accès au registre, avec des messages tels que « PKIX path validation failed: CertPathValidatorException: validity check failed ». Les domaines affectés étaient https://bcr.bazel.build et https://releases.bazel.build. 🔐🚫 • Cause immédiate: d’après un résumé post-mitigation de Xùdōng Yáng sur un ticket GitHub, l’auto‑renouvellement du certificat a été bloqué suite à l’ajout de nouveaux sous-domaines, et les notifications d’échec de renouvellement n’ont pas été envoyées.

Somebody somewhere didn’t set up a certificate auto-renewal for a piece of #Bazel infrastructure, and now folk are working during the holidays because they are the only folk who can resolve it.

This is what professionalism, and taking ownership of deciding to have a cert expire at 2am on the 26th of December, looks like.

Showing that you’re leadership material isn’t about pushing personal viewpoints, or agendas, it’s about stepping up when others need help.

what??! there is no up-to-date pkg-config module. you know. the standard way of getting dependencies as a piece of software which will be packaged by a distro, assuming one doesn't want to get keelhauled by distro maintainers?

does anyone actually ... use #bazel for anything that expects to be packaged by a Linux distro without bazel owning the entry point?
