Finally a win again!

Rounds:

1) Strong deployment, lucky dice, all squads survived while nearly killing a Dreadknight

2) Lost two Immolators but Vahl+Paragons retaliated by killing two Dreadknights, Rest of the army damaged Purifiers

3) Paladins fail to charge Vahl, Seraphim steal opponent's home objective, Purifiers gone, Striker decimated leaving the opponent with only the Paladins and 2 Striker models

One moar game!

We’re back to normal boys!

My dice have decided to behave more like ork dice again. Meaning: from 24+ dice shooting only a small portion hit and even less wound.

Also the only weapon capable of wounding the Chaos Dreadnought got knocked out in turn 3 and subsequentially the Dreadnought ran around slaughtering units.

On the plus side: rules start to get a bit easier. Though some question still pop up that we couldn’t find a rule for in the core rulebook.

  • What happens when a fast vehicle (wartrukk) needs to go through enemy infantry. Can it go through? It can’t do tank shock. Does it need to go around enemy infantry?

Well, we stopped without having reached any result but it was more or less inevitable that he would win in the next turn.

Maybe next time I’ll bring Space Smurfs? Or Chaos? Or Tyranids?

Who knows!

Da uvver game!

I…

Well…

Uhm…

So I won again. With the new list.

My Shooty Boyz killed the Chaos General in turn 1.

My Trukk killed his dread in turn 1.

And even as my Slugga Boys got decimated and ran off the table: I still won.

Again a combination of me rolling great for shooting attack and my friend failing to save anything and not hitting anything in his shooting phase.

In the last turn I still had my Wartrukk and most of my Shooty Boyz. And the last standing nurgly deamon ran away… it ran AWAY!

There must be something wrong! XD

Solaris VII Battle Report: Dewana vs Bellerose

https://youtu.be/d0H3qCLPJ-0

The highly anticipated ninth match of the 3059 Medium Class Invitational on Solaris VII sees the two dominant MechWarriors from the event’s first set of matches finally face one another. Whoever wins this match will be in first place going into the final portion of the event.

The Contestants

Galahad Stables

Dayajeet Dewana (2/2)

Hunchback HBK-5M (Dewana)

Dayajeet Dewana started the Invitational off strong with victories over Lisbeth Braun and Eva Volkov. Then in his first match of the second set, he had a startling upset when he was shaken up by a head hit and then quickly taken down by Zahra Al-Amin. Some commentators have speculated that he has been off his game since accidentally killing Eva Volkov in their match, but Dewana has mostly avoided interviews since then, so who really knows what is going through his head as he heads into this important match.

His customized Hunchback HBK-5M has been updated with an expanded ammunition supply for its autocannon and experimental pulse lasers.

Starlight Stables

Arnie Bellerose (3/2)

Enforcer ENF-5D (Bellerose)

Arnie Bellerose is looking to remain undefeated. So far he has beaten every contestant in the event so far with Dewana as the last one that he needs to face. If he can win tonight, then he’ll have beaten everyone and go into the final set of matches as the clear leader.

His Enforcer has been upgraded by replacing its extended range laser with an experimental large pulse laser.

The Match

Bellerose makes the most of his range advantage

At the start of the match, the two biggest walls in the arena were up. Each MechWarrior went to their right to start moving around the walls, but they couldn’t see each other until both walls dropped and left the arena wide open. At that point, Dewana ran his Hunchback toward the center of the arena, but Bellerose was able to quickly pivot and stay out of Dewana’s range. He got the first shots of the match and hit with both his autocannon and X-pulse laser.

Dewana gets into range

After that first exchange of fire, Bellerose continued to run across the arena to the far wall, and Dewana was able to close the distance between them. While on the run, Bellerose scored another two hits on Dewana’s Hunchback, but this time Dewana was able to hit back with his autocannon and medium X-pulse lasers.

The two MechWarriors skirmish

After that, two walls came back up. Bellerose continued to run along the outer wall as Dewana took up position near the center of the arena. Dewana hit Bellerose’s Enforcer with both of his X-pulse lasers. Returning fire, Bellerose missed with his autocannon, but melted a bit more armor from the Hunchback with his large X-pulse laser.

Bellerose shakes up Dewana with some solid hits

Bellerose continued to circle around the outer edge of the arena as two more walls came up. Predicting Bellerose’s move, Dewana was able to once again close the distance. As the Hunchback closed in, Bellerose hit it with both his autocannon and X-pulse laser. That shook up Dewana. He hit back with only one of his own lasers before his Hunchback stumbled and fell to the arena floor.

Bellerose comes around the wall and back into sight

Luckily for Dewana, the arena wall between him and Bellerose came up just after he hit the ground. That gave him time to get his Hunchback back to its feet and in position to be ready for when Bellerose’s Enforcer came back into view. They exchanged fire again. Dewana missed with everything while Bellerose scored two hits – one of which took off the Hunchback’s left arm!

Despite standing still, Dewana still is struggling to land hits on Bellerose

Needing to get back into the fight, Dewana stood with his back to one of the arena walls. As Bellerose continued to run around, Dewana landed another hit on the Enforcer with his remaining X-pulse laser. Bellerose came out ahead in the exchange of fire again with his large X-pulse laser melting one of the Hunchback’s heat sinks.

Dewana blasts the leg of Bellerose’s Enforcer

Dewana again pushed into short range with Bellerose. He scored hits to the Enforcer’s right leg with both his autocannon and a laser. Those hits broke through the armor and damaged two of the leg actuators. Despite the damage, Bellerose kept the Enforcer on its feet and hit back hard. His large laser damaged the Hunchback’s autocannon, and his small laser and autocannon did more damage.

The final exchange of fire as Dewana’s Hunchback is taken out

Missing most of his guns, Dewana pushed to point blank in hopes of being able to kick the Enforcer. Before he could do that though, Bellerose’s fire savaged his Hunchback. Hits from all of the Enforcer’s weapons took out both the engine and gyroscope of the Hunchback. With that, Dewana’s ‘Mech dropped to the ground.

The Outcome

Arnie Bellerose has done it! He’s remained undefeated through the first two rounds of the Invitational and will be the number one seed going into the semifinals.

Dayajeet Dewana’s record is still good enough that he’ll get into the semifinals as well, so maybe he’ll get a rematch against Bellerose.

Finally got another game in! A loss 😅

#AdeptaSororitas vs #Votann

Round 1: 10VP for opponent. Made a mistake with screening, opening up my deployment zone.

Round 2: opponent deep strikes hearthguards in and kills my most important units. Vahlgons enable a comeback but fail their 9er charge even with a 5er miracle dice. 🙈

#LessonsLearned

- Screening is important
- Infiltrate is necessary in an army

Pirates on Zhongshan

Following up on our recent completion of its second contract, we dove into the final contract option in the Mercenaries box set: Pirate Invasion. For this one we enlisted Stef to play the pirates so that my daughter and I could team up.

If you want to read about our previous contracts, you can read Violence on Zhonghsan and Escalation on Zhongshan.

Starting Forces

Jade Tiger Mercenaries

The Jade Tiger Mercenaries, former members of Clan Jade Falcon, had a rough time in their second contract. Jade’s Fire Falcon was left completely destroyed, and their reputation hurt by being unable to accomplish the Pearl Dragon Mining Corporation’s objectives. Luckily, they still had enough resources to buy a replacement for the Fire Falcon and prepare for another contract.

  • Jade (3/4) in a Starslayer STY-4C
  • Mateo (3/4) in a Kit Fox A

The emergency contract that they were granted to face off against the pirates offered the following terms for the month:

  • Base Pay: 100%
  • Transportation: N/A
  • Support: 0%
  • Salvage: 100%
  • Command: Independent

Kate’s Cutlasses

Kate’s Cutlasses have expanded their roster and now have three MechWarriors and ‘Mechs. Their war chest and reputation are in good shape after successfully completing two contracts for the Great Eagle AgroWorks Union.

  • Kate Morán (3/4) in a Shadow Cat Prime
  • Jess Becker (3/4) in an UrbanMech UM-R80
  • Anton (3/5) in an Ostsol OTL-8E

The emergency contract that the Cutlasses signed on to has the same terms as the one for the Jade Tigers.

Roshak Talons

The pirate force attacking Zhongshan consisted of three ‘Mechs, but they were dangerous Clan machines. Since I was playing with my daughter and we wanted to shift things a bit in our favor, we left the pirates at baseline skills rather than giving them any advances.

  • Pirate (4/5) in a Bane
  • Pirate (4/5) in a Phoenix Hawk IIC
  • Pirate (4/5) in a Grizzly

Contract Log

October 3151

A pirate force attacked Zhongshan at the beginning of the month and shattered the relative peace that we had enjoyed during the month of September. The two mercenary units operating near Zuhai worked together to intercept the pirate BattleMechs as they approached the city and, through a show of force, convinced the pirates that they should leave Zhongshan.

Zuhai Public News Network, 14 October 3151

The only track for this contract was a stand up fight against the pirates. My daughter and I chose to engage the pirates outside of the city. With the 3,000 BV limit for Scale 1, we were limited in what we could deploy. I took my Ostsol and UrbanMech, and my daughter chose to use her Starslayer. Both of us fell well below the BV limit, but our remaining ‘Mechs wouldn’t fit, so we took a lot of support assets: a Galleon, a Von Luckner, a Demolisher, a Schrek, and an airstrike.

As the pirates advanced, the Bane and Grizzly moved to take up a firing position on a hill while the Phoenix Hawk IIC pushed forward. Anton in his Ostsol ran towards the hill while Jess’s UrbanMech and Jade’s Starslayer moved to block the Phoenix Hawk IIC.

The Jade Tigers and Cutlasses confront the pirate force

Jade blasted through the Phoenix Hawk IIC’s armor with one of her heavy lasers and ignited multiple ammo bins in its torso. That knocked out the pirate, and then the Jess took an aimed shot at its head with her PPC to ensure that the pirate’s days of crime were over.

Jade takes down the Phoenix Hawk IIC

Meanwhile, the Ostsol was taking a beating against the Bane and Grizzly. Anton’s ‘Mech had also taken two AC/2 hits to the head, so he was in trouble. Luckily, the Starslayer and UrbanMech were able to join that fight before it was lost. Again Jade melted through a target’s armor and ignited its ammunition. That left the Bane crippled and only the Grizzly in good shape for the pirates.

Anton and Jade desperately try to take down the Bane

With the slow tanks now getting in range, the pirates in the Grizzly and crippled Bane negotiated their withdrawal. Zhongshan had been saved!

End of Contract

The retreat of the pirates off of Zhongshan left the world in a state of peace again. With the situation in the Hinterlands deteriorating, the feuding forces seem to have accepted that they need to resolve their issues through negotiation.

That has left both Kate’s Cutlasses and the Jade Tigers free to seek out contracts elsewhere in the Hinterlands. The Jade Tigers claimed the Phoenix Hawk IIC as salvage, and the Cutlasses purchased a Caesar CES-5R. That meant that each unit could potentially take a Scale 2 contract if we decide to keep playing with these units.
