Played me some board games last night! Started out with a playtest of a quick game concept I designed. Very promising. Then on to some Brass Lancashire, still a new game to me but I did better than expected. And finished with a classic Castles of Burgundy.

Boardgamewire.com are reporting on the competition ramping up between Gamefound and Kickstarter for tabletop crowdfunding. KS have gone for pledge management and payment splits. GF are community building with playtest groups, which could be interesting for grabbing an audience of folks who feel invested… but you should probably have already done your playtests before you even *look* at a crowdfund site.

The main thing that's still missing for me is layout tools for the pages. Without decent options for this crowdfund pages have devolved to creators just dumping monolithic images to get the look they want. These are screen-reader and mobile hostile. While KS finally dragged itself out of the nineties by allowing alt text, most folks are not using it. The cargo cult of "the big money campaigns do it so me tooooooo" drives me fecking nuts. Use TEXT, people.
