@howard I haven't gotten to the terminal part of this suggestion yet, but the https://karthinks.com/software/avy-can-do-anything/ article is absolutely blowing up my #emacs workflow in the best way. I had _not_ been using #avy it turns out.

Update (2024-09-08): Read this article in Japanese at Qiita or at Emacs-JP. You’re using Avy wrong. Too harsh? Let me rephrase: you’re barely using Avy. Still too broad? Okay, the noninflammatory version: Avy, the Emacs package to jump around the screen, lends itself to efficient composable usage that’s obscured by default. Without burying the lede any further, here’s a demo that uses a single Avy command (avy-goto-char-timer) to do various things in multiple buffers and windows, all without manually moving the cursor:

the workflow for #emacs’s #avy tool is simple:

1. look at the spot onscreen you want to jump the cursor to
2. invoke avy
3. type a couple of characters of what you’re looking at
4. every onscreen instance of those characters is overlaid w/a short code
5. type the code you’re looking at

it is, in short, a tool for *touch typists* that builds visual attention into its operation.
