Per la Giornata Mondiale dei delfini proponiamo un articolo di #ASGM che analizza l’etimologia della parola #delfino, #δελφίς in greco.

Attualmente sembra derivare da δελφύς “grembo; utero” e ἀδελφός “(co-uterino) fratello”, che insieme possono essere interpretate come “(animale marino) dotato di utero”.
Il suo significato primario però sembra discendere dalla radice “*gʷelbh-“, “labbro”, richiamandosi al suo muso “dalle lunghe labbra”.
