@kassiopeia_v7 landslides are something we have to live with in #Peru , and it won't get better. Obviously we need to find ways to get people out of high risk areas and into more planned and safer settlements. The article doesn't talk about it (or I overread it) but there are two kinds of "unplanned settlements": most regions of Peru don't have any zonification laws, so people (legally) buy a plot of land somewhere and just built a house without necessarily breaking many laws 1/2

Peru’s exports increased by 37.8% in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period in 2025, with traditional exports up no less than 49.3%. Total exports reached US$28.7 billion compared with US$20.8 billion last year. The export boom was the result of the increase in the prices of commodities, especially minerals. Mining exports were worth 57.3% more.
