Masuleh is an Iranian village with unique architecture. It is located more than 1000m above the sea level on slopes of the Alborz mountain range in Gilan, northern Iran, dates back to 1006 AD.
A key feature is that the roofs of lower buildings serve as pedestrian streets and courtyards for the buildings directly above them. The village is interconnected, with the courtyard of an upper building being the roof of the building below it.
