Watch a live talk on the creative process with Benjamin Hubert and Andreu World

Dezeen has teamed up with Andreu World for a live talk with British industrial designer Benjamin Hubert, who features in a new book by the Spanish furniture brand about how designers work. Watch live from 3:00pm London time.

The talk coincides with the launch of Conversations About Work, a new book by Andreu World that takes an inside look at the working practices of eight renowned designers, including Hubert, Patricia Urquiola and Philippe Starck.

Hubert, who founded London-based design studio Layer, will appear on the panel alongside Andreu World's CEO Jesús Llinares.

The pair will speak to Dezeen's founder and editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs about the creative process and what it means to different designers.

The talk will also explore how Hubert approached his previous designs for Andreu World, including a bar stool collection named Hula and an upcoming collection called Triada.

Industrial designer Benjamin Hubert

Hubert is a British industrial designer and entrepreneur. He established an eponymous design studio in London in 2011, which he renamed Layer four years later. The studio has worked on projects with brands such as Bang & Olufsen, Airbus, Panasonic and Moroso, and start-up Nolii.

Previous projects by the practice include an electrical scooter that learns your regular routes through AI, and an anti-bacterial cinema seat designed for social distancing.

Layer has worked with clients including Nike, Pepsi, Herman Miller and Braun. Hubert also takes on not-for-profit projects like cancer charity Maggie's, and acts as a mentor to young designers through Layer.

Jesús Llinares, CEO of Andreu World

Prior to becoming Andreu World's CEO in 2011, Llinares joined the brand in 2001 as an assistant to the brand's general management, before becoming its general director in 2002.

Andreu World was founded in 1955 in Valencia, Spain. The company produces furniture designs for public spaces, hospitality, and work environments, as well as for the home.

Whilst under Llinares' direction the company was awarded the National Design Award in 2007. Andreu World has showrooms across Spain, Europe, North America and Asia, and its furniture is stocked by shops in more than 90 countries.

Connect Table system by Gensler for Andreu World

Dezeen Showroom: architecture firm Gensler has collaborated with international furniture brand Andreu World to create a system of space-saving, mobile desks that can be connected to form larger constellations.

Called Connect Table, the system was designed to foster teamwork and collaboration as well as aiding productivity during large meetings. The tables are also fitted with castors to enable flexibility.

Their frame is composed of endlessly recyclable aluminium, which has been selected for its durability and lightness.

The Connect Table system features integrated cable management and other organisational accessories

The tabletops can be quickly and easily compacted for storage using a folding system that can be operated using only one hand. Multiple tables can be tightly stacked together and put aside, enabling users to maximise the surrounding space.

"Connect is a dynamic solution and can adapt its shape according to the space and the needs of the user," explained Andreu World.

"The modern design allows you to customise any workspace – public or private – where flexibility and adaptation is needed."

The system comes with optional attachment kits that allow the tables to be connected via joining tops

Intended for use in workplaces, educational spaces or home offices, the desks feature integrated cable management systems as well as attachment kits that allow them to be connected.

Their frames can be finished in white, black or polished aluminium while the tabletops are available in ultra-matt laminate in black or white, FSC-certified oak or melamine.

Andreu World, Tiptoe and Axor showcase products on Dezeen Showroom

A fully recyclable lounge chair, water-saving bathroom products and tabletops made from discarded yoghurt pots feature on Dezeen Showroom this week.

Nuez Lounge BIO by Patricia Urquiola for Andreu World

Dezeen Showroom: Patricia Urquiola has expanded her Nuez collection for Andreu World, adding a lounge chair that is recyclable and biodegradable.

The Nuez Lounge BIO is made of a thermopolymer generated by living organisms and without fossil fuels. The material is not only recyclable but biodegradable and compostable.

The Nuez Lounge BIO is designed with sustainability in mind

The thermopolymer is used to make the Nuez Lounge BIO's high-backed, enveloping shell, which has a warm, modern character and a shape similar to folded paper.

Lounge BIO echoes the forms in Urquiola's wider family of Nuez products for Andreu World. It includes a chair, armchair, table and stool.

It is the latest in the Nuez family of products

Sustainability concerns also informed other aspects of the chair's design. A new recyclable fabric collection, called New Circular One Pure Eco, was developed especially for the chair, made from recycled plastic bottles and packaging.

The chair can also be easily separated into its component materials — shell, foam, fabric, and wood or aluminium base — for recycling and repair.

Nuez Lounge BIO is available in four colours, either sand, basalt grey, terracotta brown or black.
