Lichen CatsI completely agree with this position on functional illiteracy. Even in my university classes, I have peers who can parrot the textbook but cannot apply that information to the real world.

I was a fully grown adult before I learned that other native languages besides English and it's predecessors were spoken throughout the British Isles. Before learning that, I never really even thought about it.
