Thank you for posting these quotes and affirmations.

I wish you would include these quotes as alt text when you post them, then I could share them with my blind friends and others who can't get the image - for whatever reason.

I realize it requires an extra step to consider the needs of others like this, but it also seems right in line with your whole identity.

So please and thank you for your time!

That would be a beautiful thing for you to do, I hope you consider it.

Hey there, cool photo!
Thanks for sharing!

I see you figured out how to add alt text to the photos you post.

Here's an idea: rather than putting redundant marketing information into the alt text - information that is also in the main post as text, how about you provide a description of the image, seeing that is what the alt text field is actually for.

Just mentioning this for all the blind folks who might appreciate a simple description of what the picture is.

Since you're already taking the time to copy a redundant link in there, I mean, what's an extra couple of seconds to bang out a simple description?

Otherwise, it's really like a great big FUCK YOU to all the blind people and others who rely on alt text descriptions.

Of course, you're free to do whatever you feel like, right?

I just thought you might not have been told what an ableist and anti-social behavior it is to use the alt text field for content that is not a description of the image.

So if you do care about more people being able to enjoy your posts, now you know another way to make that happen.

Also, if you provide a proper alt text description, I and others might boost your posts as well. This photo is interesting, for example - but I won't be boosting it, because that would just be rude.

So bottom line - even if you don't give a shit about being the kind of person who cares about blind people, you might care enough about your own self-promotion to include a description of the pic.

I mean, I don't really expect to change your heart or anything, I just figure whatever it takes to get the desired behavior is worth a shot.

And if you decide to just blow me off and call me an asshole, well that will be obvious to everyone as well.

But at least I tried.

So thanks again for sharing, and no charge for the social etiquette lesson.

With all the love and compassion in the universe!

@ukuku

Hey man, nice pic!

If you described it with some alt text I could share it with my friends who are blind.

They actually like getting pics with descriptions, even though they can't see the pic.

Some trip, right?

Nice pic, I would like to give it a boost, but I only boost images with alt text descriptions.

In other words, please describe your images so they are accessible to everyone.

@NPR_USNews

Please do better with your alternate text descriptions.

Your misuse of the alt text tool is not only insulting to people who rely on the alt text, it is actively working against your attempt to spread information.

You discredit your status as a reputable news outlet when you are so ignorant and uncaring about people and the society you live in.

I hate what you are doing to the NPR brand with this behavior.

Please educate yourself and do better.

Many people are refusing to boost posts without appropriate alt text, because it is discriminatory and evidence of a low-effort (or garbage) post.

Sharing is caring, please make sure you share with everyone, or just stop.

Thank you! With all the love and compassion in the universe!
