@dxrt in case you didn't already know, there is stuff like #Alt4Me and @altbot as imperfect community solutions to this problem. My suggestion is, if you don't alt text, don't put it in the federated TL, and if you use AI alt text, indicate as such in the post somewhere.

📣: New study on the 'cold blob' hovering over the Northern Atlantic strongly suggests it's due to the main Atlantic Ocean current (AMOC) slowing. That is definitely not good!

@random_industries here we do alt text for blind folx, alt text says what is in the images. if you don't want to try in denglish (as wilkommen as that would be) you can use the hashtag #Alt4me to ask a robust group of Mastodon users to come up with something that you can copy into the alt text box of your photo(s) as an edit. thanks for your attention to this matter.

If you don't know about alt text, it's there to provide a description of your picture to those who can't see.
@FediTips has some handy advice to offer or connect to @altbot or use the #Alt4Me or #AltTxt4Me to let people know you'd like a hand.
If they respond with an #ALT4You then you can use their description & remember, it's always nice to say thanks to them for their efforts.
