We have an answer. #OneCoolThing as suggested by @VisualStuart

Purpose: recommend/share something that you (a human) like or enjoy with other humans so we can practice not relying on algorithms, which, let's be honest, mostly don't help us find new things just more of the same. Part of the #aliveinternet

I'm also going to use #KrinsRecs for my specific shares, possibly as part of a wider personal project.

Feel free to contribute to the first, and follow the second if you want.

I just created my first actual share, for those of us who love costuming.

You know what I miss? Real humans sharing cool stuff they admire with other humans, not just allowing the feed to hopefully serve it up to you.

I'm thinking about a weekly "cool thing I liked" post. Think song, video, book, article, art, etc.

Is there a Mastodon hashtag for this? Still finding my way in this subculture.

Good idea: bring life to the web

https://alivetheory.net/

As dead internet theory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Internet_theory) enters mainstream discourse—the belief that bots will eventually outnumber real people—alive internet theory (https://news.spencer.place/p/alive-internet-theory) offers a counter-narrative: the internet will always be filled with real people: looking for each other, answering calls for help, and sharing laughs even in the midst of arguing.
alive internet theory is a séance with this living internet. Resurrecting tens of millions of digital artifacts from the https://archive.org/, visitors are immersed in a relentless barrage of human expression as they travel through the life of the web as we created it—every image, video, song, and text uploaded by a real person on the web.
