Court rejects #Verizon claim that selling #location data without consent is legal
2nd Circuit did not accept carrier's argument that the fine violated its 7th Amendment right to a jury trial and that location data wasn't protected under the law used by #FCC to issue penalties. Verizon claimed law doesn’t cover device location data. Verizon had arrangements with two data aggregators, #LocationSmart and #Zumigo, which in turn contracted with 63 3rd-party entities.
