After more than 60 years of operation, the Houston Zoo has decided to close the Carruth Natural Encounters building next month.

Houston Zoo to close Carruth Natural Encounters building, relocate animals

The building, first constructed in 1962, is scheduled to have its final day of operation on March 23. The attached outdoor meerkat exhibit will remain open.
