Apparently missed the whole Zip Books conversation on Mastodon in late November. I’ve no doubt people love it - having California buy a book you like from Amazon, sending it to your house & then incorporating it into your local library’s collection sounds like a bargain. @samlmontano @ai6yr #Zipbooks sounds like a cool idea. When I wore my interlibrary loan hat, we would buy a book for a professor (from Amazon ) instead of an interlibrary loan request because it was cheaper. Not all university libraries are reciprocal, and ILL requests usually started at $15-$25 a crack.

The first book I'm going to try to borrow from my library (which doesn't have this book) is Disasterology by @samlmontano -- neat program where you can borrow books the library doesn't own, which gets delivered via Amazon (and returned locally). Will have to make up a wish list! #library #books #Zipbooks
