New Read - Home Office Romance (Single Volume)
I had seen a lot of mangagram talking about this single volume series, "Home Office Romance," and when I heard it was from the creator of Sweat and Soap, I was instantly interested!
Let's start with a quick summary - as the opening chapter basically states, this is the real story of How I Met Your Mother...wait, that's not right.
But, seriously, the story tells the tale of how two folks who were shut in due to COVID lockdown restrictions ended up finding love.
After having read Sweat and Soap, I knew Kinetsu Yamada could write a well done story about adults falling in love. This is no different. The art is fantastic and expressive. The romance worked as they were, again, two adults who actually spoke (eventually) about what they wanted. The COVID restrictions world was too real, but also very well done.
My biggest and only issue with the series was the ending. With a build up of "And this is how I met my wife..." I was expecting more out of the ending. I don't want to ruin it for anyone else, I'll just say I was hoping for more of a happily ever after big wedding or some kind of ending like that after such a pronouncement at the start of the series. Instead, we got what we got. And it was good, but just...did not match the up front expectations I had.
Have you read this series? If so, what did you think?
