Hawrelak Park reopening to the public in March after extensive rehabilitation | Global Edmonton

Iβve started a photo project for 2026! Inspired by the numerous sets of #RiverValley stairs in the City of #Edmonton, I'll be photographing some of them, sharing their story as Iβve experienced them, in the nearly 25 years Iβve lived here.
First up:

Perfect day to celebrate the opening of a new park!
Not being facetious, either, we're a winter city and I'm glad we're taking that to mean "we can still do stuff outside in winter*" as opposed to the "we must hunker down inside until it blows over" strategy we've maintained up until recently.
*Including biking, which is why I wanted some visibility at the event!
Congrats to everyone who made the new O-day'min Park a reality!

There's a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, November 7 at 12:30 pm at the pavilion on 107 Street (got asked to leave before I could get a photo of it π ).
(If any #yegBike folks are able to be there, it might be good to make ourselves visible to media photos and videos and such.)
Then there's a bigger, more public grand opening ceremony from 5:30 - 8:00pm, and more events planned until November 16.
This was gifted to me by the YouTube algorithm today, and what a delight! Edmonton's beloved River Valley, showcased in the way it deserves!
Even as someone who has lived here over 20 years (and walking distance from the RiverValley for most of it), I didn't know some of these details. Worth a watch.
I was bored and went outside to touch some grass. I wanted to get some pictures before all the leaves fell.
