Alright, well, my switch to #Linux on my laptop and gaming desktop is complete. I have one issue where Wine via #XIVLauncher doesn’t want to see my Dualsense or PS4 controller, but it works on my laptop so I just need to compare settings I think. It sees every other controller I throw at it and the os itself gets the input fine.
Beyond that the process was fine. I played for about an hour and got another class to level 100!
Putting this out here in the ether (ahem Aether) if anyone needs it. I couldn't get XIVLauncher to run FFXIV on my 9070xt even running Nobara everything updated plus firmware. I switched to XIVLauncher-RB and then using their updated proton instead of wine in the other launcher and now FFXIV works on the 9070xt. #9070xt #FFXIV #XIVLauncher #LinuxGaming
Installed #FinalFantasyXIV through #XIVLauncher on #Debian12 yesterday and found that holding the right mouse button (to control the camera) sometimes prevents the game from receiving keyboard input.
I'll press W but my character doesn't move forward, so I'll have to release the key and press it again, for example.
Less than ideal.

So thanks to the suggestions I've gotten here I'm almost certain the issue is that #xivlauncher can't see my dedicated graphics card. Which makes sense since it's a Flatpak. But even after installing the Flatpak version of the same nvidia driver, I still got nothing.
Guess I just have to keep poking around the interwebs until I find the right combination of commands that will make it work.
