fanfic woes: come up with and write out an awesome backstory for a trivial detail; find a direct reference that gives the canon backstory a few hours later

it's a fairly trivial detail, and only 250 words, but I really liked that backstory. mrah.

What frustrates me most about my writing is I have a bunch of scenes and dialogue, but no story.

I have SO many novel or novella story idea but I can't ever seem to get them beyond that.... an idea. I have a character(s) and can probably summerise the story in a short paragraph but then I do that and am like, hmm, but how does it end... It's so boring. It cliche.

My brain is frustating.
