Since I'm on a mega-irritated roll these days, here's another thing. Apparently #Woodfin #NC has gone ahead with their French Broad River "wave" project, and it will actually open later this year.

This stretch of the river was so pleasant, and quiet, and we had High Five coffee to enjoy, and a small park. Now we'll be overrun with tourists and screaming kids.

Thanks. This is really where $s should go around here right now.

Yeah, yeah, kayakers will be happy.

Woodfin's new river attraction to open this fall after storm delays

A major new attraction for river enthusiasts is slated to open in Woodfin this fall.

Drove around by the river in #Asheville today, seeing parts of the RAD we had purposely avoided (awful) and driving up to #Woodfin to check on our favorite coffee shop, located right along the French Broad.

I believe they have gutted the entire building, not sure what their plans are. They have other locations, but none convenient, nor so beautiful. Heartbreaking.

Also caught a photo of a pile of PVC pipe on the far side of the river. It appears someone has been dragging the plastic debris out of the water, it was much, much worse a month or so ago, when we last drove this way.

So many people have lost everything, and so many businesses are suffering, but I wanted to share this since I've inflicted countless pictures of us sitting at High Five Coffee along the French Broad river now for years.

We haven't been going anywhere to see what's happening, as we didn't want to get in the way of all the work, but this is probably representative of so many places along the river. Better than the RAD, actually, as the building still stands.

Yesterday's adventure at #HighFive coffee on the #FrenchBroadRiver in #Woodfin #NC. Enough hashtags?

Anyway, it was a bright day, cooler than it looked with plenty of wind. We strolled up the river from the park, grabbed a table, chairs and a couple of chais to go with the (very, very bad) extremely large ginger-molasses cookie from #WellBredin #weaverville

That was a big cookie.

At our fav coffee spot, #HighFive in #Woodfin on the river. Having chai in 38F weather. Pretty much alone.

We knew this was happening, yet wrenching nonetheless. My fav little park, next door to the beautiful #coffee spot on the #FrenchBroad river in #Woodfin north of #Asheville is going to be “improved” into a tourist/kayak/wave attraction.

Trees coming down, lots of parking, the river being disrupted. People, people, people.

Damn them to hell. Expanding and sprucing the park, making a better spot to put in kayaks would have been sufficient. But no, now we get an “attraction.”

Trees, building to come down, make way for Woodfin Greenway Blueway project

Site preparation is set to begin at Riverside Park, making way for the Woodfin Greenway Blueway project.

71F stop #HighFive coffee in #Woodfin #NC in the US. After so long in FL it’s hard to believe we can have days this cool at the end of May.
