Jennifer Brooks has our #LocalAngle on the Wisconsin beagles story.

'Look for the bird names. The beagles, whose only identification had been the numbers tattooed in their ears, were renamed for birds, in honor of their flight to freedom. Egret. Towhee. Cormorant. Oriole. Grebe.

'Some foster families have opted to adopt the beagles in their care; a wave of so-called “foster fails” that delighted everyone involved. But plenty of beagles are still looking for homes. Heron. Kinglet. Starling. Loon. Coot.'

These caged beagles found their barks again. Now they just need homes.

Forty-nine beagles arrived in Golden Valley Thursday night.

"They need a little support to gain confidence. They don't know how to walk on a leash. They're kind of scared of doorways. We've just been carrying them around right now."
