Wikimedia Community Ireland recently traveled to Donostia in the Basque Country for a Wiki Women Erasmus+ Wiki-thon which saw students make presentations on their work so far and provided a chance for some cultural exchange between students, teachers, and the partner team. The goal of the WikiWomen Erasmus+ project is to highlight the gender gap
The #SRBR2024 #Wikithon draws on the experiences of many colleagues. In this paper from 2012, @ErikHerzog's team describe a university course where editing of Wikipedia is central to the learning objective. Erik's course is ongoing and has made important contributions to chronobiology wikipedia:
In #SRBR2024 #Wikithon, we'll be looking at the upkeep and editing of pages relating to chronobiology. In this paper, @rona_av and @omerbenj examine edits to "Circadian clock" and "Circadian rhythm" and reveal how scientific arguments and paradigm shifts are encoded in the pages' metadata. Will the Wikithon be similarly noticeable in 5 years' time?:
Toute cette semaine, entre midi et 14h, retrouvez-nous à l'ENS Paris pour des #Wikithon dans le cadre de la Journée internationale des femmes et des filles de sciences.
Objectif : vous accompagner à l'édition, la création, l'enrichissement, l'amélioration, la traduction, l'illustration des pages de femmes de sciences sur l'encyclopédie @wikipedia_fr
Que vous soyez novices ou expérimenté·e·s, rejoignez-nous !

Wikipedia (WP) as a collaborative, dynamical system of humans is an appropriate subject of social studies. Each single action of the members of this society, i.e., editors, is well recorded and accessible. Using the cumulative data of 34 Wikipedias in different languages, we try to characterize and find the universalities and differences in temporal activity patterns of editors. Based on this data, we estimate the geographical distribution of editors for each WP in the globe. Furthermore we also clarify the differences among different groups of WPs, which originate in the variance of cultural and social features of the communities of editors.
