cybervegan (moved)@jpaskaruk Yeah, systemd is a pain, but sysv init and even rc.conf have limitations and quirks. I think the main problem is trying to converge multiple use-cases with conflicting interests and requirements into a one-size-fits-all system. I liked the old linux runlevel + service scripts (like sysv init) for its simplicity, but it doesn't really cater well to dynamic and on-demand (i.e. event) scheduled contexts like laptops. For servers, I still love FreeBSD's rc.conf. #WhateverWorks ;-)
