Reading Wendy Brown’s #PoliticsOutOfHistory really changed how I saw the built-in deficiencies of government action to remediate systematized injustice. At the time, my MA thesis focused on the built-in failures of Brown vs Board of Education to really address a lasting undoing of systematic injustice, by not really addressing Education as an emancipatory goal.
Now I find myself excited to return to Brown and read her book, “Walled States, Waning Sovereignty” from 2010, to add theoretical context to the current panic and rush for #digitalsovereignty .
Like everything, the collapse in national sovereignty is at first gradually, then suddenly.
Hopefully we can avoid building failed walls around our data as we have with our physical states and nations.
