The best part about going through the #WellTheresYourProblem backlog is knowing that at some point they really are going to do (at this point, surely have done) a Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster episode.

The worst part is knowing they will presumably have to drop the running gag afterwards…

Well, there´s your problem!

(This busted TPS54339E step-down converter would explain why my WD 6TB MyBook decided to die exactly 2 weeks past its 2-year warranty).

Sometimes it's hard not to suspect #PlannedObsolescense - this has happened several times for me, especially with #Seagate and #WD hard drives...

Today's silly troubleshooting adventure: Notice all meter values displayed for the power amplifier (up on the mast) of the microwave transmitter on one of our live trucks are just stone cold at 00.00.
Decide to pull the mast down and look because the hardware up there kinda made no sense (at first I thought somehow it had a RF Central radio and a Nucomm ODU, which just plain wouldn't work together).

Noticed the DC connector into the RF Central amplifier unit is smashed.

@corgidad the word 'just' does a lot of work in that sentence... Recommend slogging through the 2 hour (they ramble and banter, and the first 5 minutes you can skip) amusing podcast from #WellTheresYourProblem on The Silver Line if you want to get really spicy, and dig into why we have the #SilverLine that we do. https://youtu.be/1pUQnb9BgCk?t=207

Looking forward to this one.
The Well There's Your Problem crew is amazing, always on point (even when getting way off track) and @GarethDennis is always a delight.
Plus: the hyperloop is dead. But I guess politicians will keep falling for gadgetbahn hype.

Train Good – Guy Pradel

If you are interested in rail safety, I *strongly* recommend this episode of #WellTheresYourProblem, "a podcast about engineering disasters, with slides" - you will laugh your head off and then never sleep again:

I made a thing:

Well There’s Your Problem (@[email protected]) is a podcast about engineering disasters, with slides. The “full” experience is on YouTube in video form, but I made an automated Rube Goldberg device to

1. Extract the slides and audio
2. Append the slides to the audio as chapter art
3. Clone the podcast feed such that it points to the chapterized audio
4. Automate all of the above
