#SupremeCourt ruled unanimously Tuesday that the #GardenState doesn’t need #NewYork's consent to withdraw from the #WaterfrontCommission of #NewYorkHarbor. The commission was created in 1953 when #OrganizedCrime had infiltrated the port and was demanding payments from workers and shippers through extortion and violence.
Over the years, #HaroldDaggett has bad-mouthed the #WaterfrontCommission – a #regulatory agency that was formed following the movie & created to prevent #corruption among New York & New Jersey #ports.
Daggett called the commission’s accusations of #mob ties “total bulls–t” & a “dark, ugly attack on Italian Americans.”
