as someone who mostly drinks filtered water the concept of #watertok makes me want to cry
sufficient water intake is crucial to my productivity. i hate drinking water. for all the flak that so-called #WaterTok gets, i benefit immensely from romanticizing my water drinking, an ice machine, and using water flavouring. it's a little embarrassing but hopefully i'll one day be mature enough to not care about that.

#WaterTok: Why ‘Water Recipes' Are Taking Over TikTok

Is it actually helping people stay hydrated? Or is it just contributing to toxic diet culture?

”More than a few people told me they thought this might be a Mormon thing, connected to Utah soda shop culture. None of the #WaterTok videos I’ve seen on Twitter seem to be specifically coming from Mormon accounts, but I did some digging and, yes, Mormons are very big into lifehacking their water and use the hashtag.”
