It's almost the beginning of the #AFL season so I had to check that my Rube Goldberg machine of video processing was still working. I downloaded the State of Origin game and it mostly worked. I kept screwing up the file where I map GUIDs to human readable names but the flow worked.

That flow is :
WatchAFL download on Android -> FileSync -> Syncthing -> desktop machine -> my script on a cron job -> Handbrake -> file transfer to NAS to get picked up by Plex

Now I am once again easily converting #WatchAFL downloads into files on my Plex. AFL is not a game that rewards watching on a phone. Sometimes my 55" TV seems small for the action so a 6" screen is ridiculous.

DAZN has closed the deal to buy Foxtel, owner of Fox Footy and WatchAFL subscription service for footy fans outside Australia. Foxtel CEO Patrick Delany says the company's long-held investments in the AFL and the National Rugby League will now have the opportunity to be exported to a “massive global audience.”

2025 AFL Coverage in North America
At this time, we have confirmed coverage with TSN in Canada, with one live game and probably two delayed each week but this may vary slightly. The specific TSN network will vary. WatchAFL is also up and running. We have schedules at afana.tv for both networks.
