I absolutely love that the break the Bomb Squad took for the opening of Public Enemy’s Fight the Power comes all the way at the end of a 15-minute live track on side C of this amazing double album, because it means they knew the whole album through-and-through when they chose that sample 🔥🔥🔥

(also, while obviously the Bomb Squad built their beats up from James Brown, I am quite convinced their rhythmic sensitivity owed at least as large a debt to #GoGo, in its layered syncopation)
