Boyyyy am I glad I've finished book 5. The Thing won't happen exactly as it did in the book, but it sure looks like it's happening somehow 💀

I was just re-reading the Rhuidean sequence from Shadow Rising to refresh my book memory, and I'll obviously have to re-watch ep4 again too (omg). But just a few random thoughts in the meantime:
I wasn't sure if the show was going to do the Rhuidean sequence in reverse chronological order (as in the book), but they kept the original sequence! Plus it was smart to have it both ways: step backward thru time, and then sum it up (in reverse) w/ a past->present montage at the end.
Some stories & chars were clearly condensed, combined, simplified or excised for (presumably) max emotional & story impact. And some specific details were changed too due to what's been in the show so far (most notably some of the objects that were to be brought to a place of safety), etc. Totally agree w/ the choices though.
A surprising amount of the dialogue is actually straight from the book 😯
I feel like the end of this sequence was probably another one of those 'oh s---' moments for non-readers re: one of the Forsaken 😅🤭

Also the Black Ajah totally just traumatised & then basically destroyed that bride's life 😟

I must say I quite enjoyed Sammael (with a Scottish accent? 👀😅) and Rahvin triggering the f out of Lanfear. Her eyes were ready to burn some holes, lmao 😂
Not sure what was happening w/ Rahvin & Mog at the end there tho.. 👀
Well, I think I know..but that was some creepy energy there 🫣 Yet I couldn't look away either 😅
Anyway, it seems the show isn't keeping the other Forsaken a mystery for too long this season.
Makes sense. They did the Lanfear mystery box in S2, so probably no reason to repeat that.
(No Asmodean tho? 🧐)
I haven't seen past episode 1 yet, so please don't confirm for me either way!! 😅
But it just occurred to me that Mat is totally going to enter a certain door in the White Tower in search of some answers for himself, isn't he.. 😏😁
I'm verrry behind on watching S3 and reading my timeline in general due to life etc, but I've now finally seen episode 1 at least!
(although it took me a couple tries because those first ~15 or so minutes were mildly traumatic tbh 😅)
Lots to like anyway! Whether familiar moments, or new moments that nevertheless felt true to the spirit of the books.
