I was just re-reading the Rhuidean sequence from Shadow Rising to refresh my book memory, and I'll obviously have to re-watch ep4 again too (omg). But just a few random thoughts in the meantime:

  • I wasn't sure if the show was going to do the Rhuidean sequence in reverse chronological order (as in the book), but they kept the original sequence! Plus it was smart to have it both ways: step backward thru time, and then sum it up (in reverse) w/ a past->present montage at the end.

  • Some stories & chars were clearly condensed, combined, simplified or excised for (presumably) max emotional & story impact. And some specific details were changed too due to what's been in the show so far (most notably some of the objects that were to be brought to a place of safety), etc. Totally agree w/ the choices though.

  • A surprising amount of the dialogue is actually straight from the book 😯

  • I feel like the end of this sequence was probably another one of those 'oh s---' moments for non-readers re: one of the Forsaken 😅🤭
