The Commander-in-Chief of the Hungarian Army, Lieutenant General Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi, has been suddenly dismissed by order of the Minister of Defense.
Media speculation suggests that the dismissal may be related to today's publication of a video showing French helicopters destined for Ukraine taking off at Gyor airfield in Hungary, despite official statements by Hungarian politicians that they will not allow EU weapons to reach Ukraine through their territory.
General Ruszin-Szendi visited Ukraine several times, including Kyiv, Bucha, and other cities in the summer of 2022. He talked to Zaluzhnyi and other Ukrainian military officers.
An additional background for this decision may be the Hungarian government's resolution adopted in January of this year to dismiss military personnel over the age of 45, which some Hungarian opposition politicians view as a covert "de-NATOization" of the army.
