Upholding the Constitution and the rule of law is a cornerstone of our democracy. That’s why an overwhelming majority of Americans (89 percent) agree that when elected officials break the law we must hold them accountable—whether citizen, candidate, or president.
From paying off people to keep voters from learning of his scandals in a blatant attempt to interfere with the election, to inciting a deadly insurrection on January 6, 2021, to threatening our national security by illegally retaining classified documents and obstructing justice, Donald Trump has repeatedly jeopardized American democracy by stoking chaos and disorder—and he’s an even worse threat today.
While Trump and his allies have sought to delay accountability at every turn, most recently by appealing to his allies on the Supreme Court, there’s still time to bring criminal cases against Trump to trial before November—and that’s what the American people deserve.
