@futzle I offer the following #VillageWitch skills:

- crisis intervention (I listen to what happened and say maybe 2-3 things and afterwards you feel better)
- cooking and growing your own food
- yarn craft (crochet, knitting)
- floss craft (embroidery)
- cloth craft (weaving, sewing)
- accounting
- Tarot reading

Getting back to my #VillageWitch game after being consumed by a work deadline, and started on the Autumn season which I'm calling Harvest season for this game. https://wiki.writeout.ink/ljwrites/ttrpg/solo/village_witch/witch1#harvest_season Too tired to do much more, but at least I got the preparation in and can start on scenes tomorrow. Planning to finish this one before I move on to Firelights. #SoloRPGBookclub

Okay, we gave it a reread and we think it works okay, so here it is: Packbats' Village Witch, part 3: keep vibing.

We were making jokes yesterday about this being the chapter were we reveal all the lore, but it maybe kinda is, actually. Hence the content warning for "capitalism and labor abuses in the videogame industry (past, mentioned)".

Also Maybe is like 75% awake at best for any of this - we hope you'll forgive his awkwardness, here.

Our Village Witch game continues, with our first two card draws of spring - content warnings: food (including meat), hoarding.

On a scheduling level, it was definitely a mistake to be so verbose - these two draws add up to over a thousand words, there's no way we'll be done with our whole story by Monday - but we appreciated the process of writing and I think we're happy with the result. I hope the setting and situation is coming through along with the characters.

Captcha Check

Finally finished the introduction to our Village Witch game. Our protagonist has arrived in the village, met two of their new neighbors, and gotten their first sense of what this place will be like for them.

Next time, we draw our first card and see how that goes.

Captcha Check

Finally starting our game of Village Witch for the bookclub! Our character is named "And maybe today the wave hits the rocks", which is a line from Ijeoma Umebinyuo, "be gentle with yourself" - because we want something different than we've done in this game before and what we've done lately in other games, we kinda landed on ... cyberpunk post-apocalyptic post-dystopia? For our setting.

(I guess technically that's a kind of solarpunk, but the emphasis feels different put this way.)

I think this is gonna end up being a lot of writing. We'll see what happens.

Another day, another #VillageWitch season for #SoloRPGBookClub! https://wiki.writeout.ink/ljwrites/ttrpg/solo/village_witch/witch1#growing_seasonamong_the_mangrove_forests The "Growing Season" vignette was guided by brief research into Nigeria's mangrove ecology, the threats they are under, and efforts to rehabilitate them, and the result is a nod to the challenges faced by modern mangrove ecosystem communities from oil prospecting and urbanization. I am especially indebted to S.A. Abere & B.A. Ekeke's paper The Nigerian Mangrove and Wildlife Development in the Mediterranean Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 2 (7) December 2011. https://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/document?repid=rep1&type=pdf&doi=815d4edcdcf1856e9a62c9d8eff77e0fef6abb33
The Wandering Wisewoman [Wiki Out]

It's late in the month but I've started to play #VillageWitch for #SoloRPGBookClub in a setting loosely inspired by Yoruba/West African culture. https://wiki.writeout.ink/ljwrites/ttrpg/solo/village_witch/witch1 I've played one season so far and find it delightful, especially the way the random tarot prompts fell together to get my character to move onto a new village and give her a new quest to retrace her late mother's footsteps.

Gameplay in general has a cozy and peaceful feel and I found the focus on domesticity and spirituality in the opening soothing. This is at odds with my general writing/playing style and makes for a nice change of pace. And a highly necessary one probably, after a stressful couple of months and given that my last #soloRPG was Princess With a Cursed Sword lol.

Everyone should have a pinned #VillageWitch post listing the esoteric things that they are hedge-experts in and don’t mind strangers knocking on their metaphorical doors asking about. I’ll start.

• comparitive linguistics in English accents
• picture framing
• Karplus-Strong resonant synthesis
• colorimetry in quilting

Oh, hey, there's two-player variant rules for Village Witch! [edited to add link] Basically, you collaborate on worldbuilding enough to justify putting both characters in the same world, and then write letters back and forth as the game goes. I know this is solo RPG book club, but does anyone wanna try that with us?
