You know Harvester, that one FMV game that's among the goriest in gaming history? Well, it also has a chilling soundtrack, and since I never saw it mentioned for #vgmwednesday I thought now would be a good time to give some appreciation towards Harvester's music.

This track plays throughout several rooms of The Lodge. It's creepy and sets in the atmosphere of what Steve faces on his trek through a series of liminal spaces. Yes, I'm associating zoomer aesthetics with a 90s adventure game.

To be real, while I'm not a fan of The Lodge's gameplay due to how nonsensical its design and combat is, I love how distinct its presentation is. I've always had a soft spot for early pre-rendered CGI backgrounds, and the music is downright appropriate for the abstract environments.

So, because the Wii has been added to RetroAchievements recently it got me thinking about it. I've yet to dip my toes back into the Wii library and I will once I get things set up properly.

That hasn't stopped me thinking about the game soundtracks, and one I had to take a pause on for a moment was Wario Ware Smooth Moves. Whilst I was tempted to pull up Ashley's Theme, or even Mona's Pizza from Wario Ware Touched.

I actually unironically love this song. There is something just joyous and cosy about this song that almost makes me a little teary eyed. This is the kind of song I would put on as I go for a ride around the countryside.

Antonblast, it's the newly complete Wario-like sensation second only to Pizza Tower. You may have seen me singing its praises before as well and for good reason. The controls are tight, the style is explosive, and you'll have a blast, duh.

The two levels in the demo were basically the first one and Cinnamon Hills or something like that. Imagine my surprise when the actual second level in true Mario fashion is a sewer. No the REAL surprise is the soundtrack sounds suspiciously similar to stage 3 of Battletoads Double Dragon of the SNES.

This is not a bad thing at all! I miss this style of Rare music immensely so I appreciate it big time. The stage itself is really fun too to get you in the groove of this game. It's not going to be a simple linear fest, you should look around and then be amazed when its HAPPY HOUR time as you ride these submarine thingies that most definitely do not sound like polar bears from Crash Bandicoot. Nosirree Bob! Did I mention Happy Hour sounds like Multi-Man Melee from Super Smash Bros Melee? Anyway, have a listen!
