The Hundred Guinea #Oak at The Vyne, Hampshire.

The story behind the name? Legend has it that in the 1800s William John Chute, the landowner, was offered £100 for the tree by a merchant. This offer was turned down. The next day it was raised to 100 guineas (£105 or around £4,600 today). This offer was also refused. Chute allegedly remarked that a tree that increased in value by 5% in a day was too valuable to lose.
