Just finished watching #thefallofthehouseofusher on #netflix.
#spoilers.

While I really liked it, there's something of the scapegoating of #Verna. Rather than risking a fulsome critique of society. They make oblique references to the rich and the powerful as clients of Verna. The inference is they also have a similar deal with this entity.

So, basically, a major reason why society can't prosecute bad actors in the higher echelons of society is some other worldly force. Whereas the fault isn't in the stars, it's much more prosaic than that.
