For those of you who have been following along, the #VenturaProblem has been fixed with the release of #macOS Ventura 13.1, https://github.com/raspberrypi/pico-sdk/issues/1081#issuecomment-1352096325. Go and update your operating system and you'll once again be able to drag-and-drop UF2 files on to your @[email protected] Pico and other #RP2040-based boards. #RaspberryPi #RaspberryPiPico #Apple https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/the-ventura-problem/

According to a comment on the ARMmbed/DAPLink issue on the #VenturaProblem, "…I've tested macOS Ventura 13.1 beta.4 and it looks like it resolves the issue," see https://github.com/raspberrypi/pico-sdk/issues/1081#issuecomment-1341027843.

I've not yet had a chance to check this myself, or heard anything directly back from the folks I'm talking to at #Apple, but if anyone that has access to #macOS beta releases wants to try out the latest beta and report back? #UF2 #RaspberryPi #RP2040

@JohnnyD Well someone has to poke at the #VenturaProblem.
If you're following along with the #VenturaProblem, see https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/the-ventura-problem/ for more details, just a quick additional note. According to a comment, https://github.com/ARMmbed/DAPLink/issues/982#issuecomment-1314447196, posted to the GitHub issue in the ARM Mbed DAPLink thread on the problem, using cp -X fails to work for firmware files >1MB in size. Instead, you should use rsync which does work for larger files.

@w8emv @PE0ALX If you're concerned with the filesystem issue, I don't think it's going to be solved by the weekend. We're working through issues with Apple, but I think it'll be some weeks to months. #VenturaProblem
I submitted my Feedback (but not upgraded yet). Hopefully w/ enough cross-ref'd FBs it'll pop this up their priority queue. Apple's historically been very good w/ educational users, so I hope they'll see the importance of RaspberryPi & the usability fail of this #VenturaProblem

To workaround the #VenturaProblem I’ve gone ahead and hacked together a quick #macOS Shortcut. If you add it as a Quick Action — you’ll need to give it permission to use shell scripts— afterwards, you can just right-click on your UF2 and select “Quick Actions > Copy to RPI-RP2” and your UF2 will be copied to your #RaspberryPiPico. #RaspberryPi https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/989b90c87fec4c11965dd517685f87cd

@benev I'm wrangling the #VenturaProblem. 😢
@joeycastillo Going to ping you here too. If you can provide feedback to Apple via the Feedback Assistant (open Safari and enter applefeedback:// on the URL bar) on the #VenturaProblem, can you pass me the FB Number you get at the end of the report? I can get this linked to others reporting this (ourselves at Raspberry Pi, and also Arm) and potentially escalated the problem inside Apple.
