Geburtstagsgeschenk ist da. Mit dem Gutschein, den ich auf der Arbeit von den Kollegen bekommen habe, hab ich mir erstmal Bücher gegönnt. Was auch sonst. Zwei Bände Vampire Hunter D und - zu meiner großen Überraschung - The Husky & his White Cat Shizun auf deutsch.

Dieses Mal war ich aber schlauer, nachdem die Hardcover Ausgabe von SVSSS auf deutsch schon so mies war, hab ich bei dem hier nur Softcover gekauft.

Where does inspiration come from? Everywhere and everything. It’s in the things we see around us, and in the conversations we have. It’s in the things we read, media we watch, and games we play. I’m heavily inspired by the works of the great horror novelist Hideyuki Kikuchi, more specifically the ongoing Vampire Hunter D series as well as Yashakiden: The Demon Princess. They both capture very unique horror vibes that in themselves feel influenced by anime/manga culture. VHD features a stoic hero on an endless quest, where every book pits him against more over-the-top enemies than the last, while being nestled in a post apocalyptic world unlike any other, with its blend of scifi and fantasy. Yashakiden on the other hand is a sickly sweet vampire series set within Demon City Shinjuku, where humans and monsters have this rough coexistence reliant on agreements between different communities, something that is thrown into disarray when an ancient vampire from another land comes into the mix. Every character is unique, wild, and fantastical in their own deadly way.
