So, what have we learned:

#GiffGaff in this case is probably the cheapest. #Voxi comes out in second.
The "main" carriers are hardly competing with each other, and can have widely different pricing and tariff structures.

Basically, it pays to shop around.

#Voxi won't let you put money down up front (that i could see). Which is a little annoying. Some back of the napkin maths suggests you end up paying around £44 extra than #GiffGaff for the same period... ish.

Lets dive into #Voxi, a similar cheap network like #GiffGaff, that uses the #Vodafone network.

> £43.75 PCM, unlimited minutes and texts, 45GB of data (winter sale only) - monthly rolling contract, 24 months paying off the phone, as you buy the phone separately through PayPal Finance.

Ok, more expensive than #GiffGaff, but you do get more data and certain apps like WhatsApp are just free.

However, I couldn't find any info about EU roaming. So... I guess that's not included?

Apparently I can’t vote in #Eurovision without topping up a whole £5, sigh #Voxi .

Perhaps if I meditate and focus on it they’ll register my vote for Finland by metaphysical means…

@sil I've had experience with #Smarty and #Voxi. The former is cheaper and runs on Three, but the call quality was atrocious so these days I just use them for data sims. Voxi are pretty much indistinguishable from the parent Vodafone (for better or worse). They're slightly more expensive but much better quality IMO. Remember to wait for a promotion to sign up, though. And also remember that switching providers is trivial these days so simply migrate if you don't like whoever you choose

#VOXI are doing some great deals this #BlackFriday . Like this one that I got:
#Unlimited data on the listed #SocialMedia and video apps/sites, unlimited calls and texts, and the 90GB of data you get is for everything else. #SIM free and NO contract/credit check.

So bizarrely, Mas.to works just fine while I'm connected to my Virgin Media WiFi, but not while I'm using #VodafoneUK – for clarification, I'm a #Voxi customer. Anyone else on #Vodafone having the same issue?
