It strikes me that there are an awful lot of well-known British dystopian/authoritarian fiction works.

1984 (I read this in school)
Brave New World
Children of Men
V for Vendetta (of course)

These exist in American media as well, of course. Is it my imagination or are these kinds of works more prevalent in 20C/21C British society? And if so - why? Is there something in British culture that inspires such works particularly?

I don't mean this as commentary on current events, but you take that as you will.

One of my favorite things about the dominoes scene from the #movie #VforVendetta is that, without the context of the speech going on in the background, V is just sitting at home alone on a random night playing lol. Which he actually does, as established in the movie when he play-fights the armor while watching the movie. Like this elaborate domino show has no purpose and this wasn't the night of the protest lol
