There’s an actual plot point in this book that a character has a dream about ducks, and then their school goes to Wollongong Uni open day, and sits on the duck pond lawn, and thus the character is convinced that their dream is being realised today.

Combine that with the action going down in the steelworks, and there’s a lot of niche references for Wollongong folk.

Happy that the AQUA exec was able to make a submission against cutting #EarthScience at #UOW. It may not help, but what is the point of our professional organisations if not to turn up for our members? Saying that, I have seen people calling out various organisations to act on the slow-and-then-all-at-once death of earth sciences, and so I want to share an evergreen reminder that the best way to get an organisation to do something is to volunteer to join the committee and get cracking.
