Just received my copy of "Democracy is Power: Rebuilding Unions from the Bottom Up". The authors mention 'legal rightsof union members in 'Appendix 6', but it is no longer included in the book. You can now find this information here:

After decades as a one party state, the #UAW has seen a real contested election. Check out the message from new President Shawn Fain. https://youtu.be/3UjcQtuGwuQ
Big labor news. After decades of reform efforts and dedicated work by successive generations of rank-and-file reformers like Mike Parker, Jerry Tucker, Wendy Thompson, Selwyn Rogers, Lew Moye, Caroline Lund, and many, many, others, the slate backed by #UniteAllWorkersForDemocracy is poised to take control of the #UAW.
Lots of new challenges await (what does the dog do when it catches the car?) but this is huge.

See election results here. What is the mood at United Auto Workers headquarters today? Day drinking? Shopping for retirement condos? Dunning staff for money to try desperately to win the run-off? Shredding documents? Reformers in the United Auto Workers are jubilant as they seem set to make a historic change in the top leadership of their union, ending 70 years of one-party top-down rule. As mail-ballot votes were counted this week, it appeared very possible that the UAW Members United slate would eventually take all seven of the seats it contested, out of 14 on the union’s executive board.
