@eniko as soon as I saw Ultima ][ on a friend’s C=64, I knew I wanted to make something like that. Ultima IV blew my mind when it came out; I had no idea games could be about things beyond conflict. Years later when I got Ultima V for my Atari ST I was amazed again!
U4/U5 are in my “games that opened my mind” list.
@DarkestKale You can cheat. Hehe ;)
It is easy to get lost playing the #Ultima games. There are just too many things to do and side quests that you end up spending more time away from the main plot. Not to mention, the “chat” format is so addicting.
(And speaking of the “chat” format, that's what I miss a lot from #Ultima7 onwards.)
The only Ultima I didn't cheat was from 1 to 4. #Ultima5 is so-so, I accidentally discovered the glass sword technique; then later used PCtools to hex edit. LOL. For #Ultima6, I ended up using “spam spam spam humbug” eventually; U7, yeah, definitely cheated; it's a good game, but I love the U1 to U6 game style; and it was hard for me to adjust to U7's.
U8, didn't even finished. It was so weird. And finally U9, haven't played it. Tried DOSBox recently but I can't make it work properly.
