My prediction: In light of these latest shenanigans, #Google and #Apple are going to end up delisting #Twitter from their app stores.

As more and more people that I followed have migrated here, I've pretty much stopped using my Twitter account. Also, it's safe to say that Twitter is a hate site now, and I don't want to contribute to it.

They're right. #Twitter was a repository for a lot of garbage, but it was also a valuable #historical record. For example, it contained on-the-ground accounts of the war in #Ukraine, as well as recent uprisings in #Iran.

On a micro level, it also contains accounts from many dead people, including people who weren't famous. Those accounts mean a lot to the friends and family those people left behind. I sometimes visit [my dead friends] Doug Mataconis' account and remember.

It's a damn shame it's all going to be gone soon, and all so some egomaniacal man-child could "own the libs."

Two weeks ago, I made some predictions about #Twitter. Specifically, I said that by today:

* Advertisers would flee like rats off the Titanic
* So would hordes of users
* The app stores would delist it
* Its IT service providers would deplatform it

Half of those predictions have come true! My biggest mistake about the other 2 is that Twitter's infrastructure will crash before those things even have a chance to happen. Or the FTC will lower the boom. Or both.

Earlier this week, #Twitter reminded me of people evac'ing ahead of a hurricane.
