Ah, turns out that the #TsukinoCon panelist came down with COVID before the convention. They are still "doing" their panels by showing a recording of the panel content. That's dedication.

So, #KeepMasksOn everyone. #FFS

I've been looking around the panel room, and even though the sound is great, I can't see the presenter. I have a deep suspicion that this is a video of a slide show, and the presenter is not even at the #TsukinoCon convention. I don't know how I feel about this, because I've never attended a panel that is just a narrated video. Is this a recent development in anime cons or is it a Canadian anime con scene thing?
My volunteer shifts are done. Now, I'm attending my very first #TsukinoCon panel ever, Canadian Anime Heritage Minutes. It's a damn fine presentation. I was too late to get the slide of Bernadette Morin's picture in the "official" Canadian Anime Heritage frame.
First break I've had during my long registration volunteer shift for #TsukinoCon this weekend. I haven't lost a beat in employing my customer service skills. It's also so cute to see newbie con attendees be so excited to get their badges.

Interesting follow-up to this toot from 2 days ago. Lonnie Eckhardt, the dude who is quoted a lot when you read articles about Island Fan Con, was at the #TsukinoCon volunteer orientation meeting to try and hook up with some cross-promotion, maybe some tabling, etc. I very helpfully pointed out the typos on the front page and he said that the page wasn't really "ready" yet.

If it wasn't ready, why did you publish it?

Of the people who are standing at the front of the room, probably the department/division heads, I see only one female-presenting person, and it's not clear if any of them are part-non-white. Some BIPOC in the audience, though, which is really good to know. Almost all of the seats that can fit into this classroom are full. That's not a bad turnout for a late Sunday afternoon meeting.

#TsukinoCon

Some folks are enjoying the big American football game today. I'm waiting for the beginning of the #TsukinoCon anime con volunteer orientation meeting. Many of the typical kinds of people are here, including folks with fedoras, people with non-standard-coloured hair, and many, many students. So many nostalgic feelings~!
